-Milton Berle continued from page 3 (Gilda?s Club: Radner?s Legacy) Gilda?s Club®, now with 20 locations worldwide, is a free, non-profit,

social and emotional support community for people living with cancer as well as their family and friends.

The second of the Gilda?s Clubs to open nationwide, was the Fort Lauderdale chapter initially opened in 1995, then operating from a strip

mall in Hollywood. At the time, in October of 2000, the club, with assistance from a state grant, purchased the historic Williams House on

the Tarpon River near downtown. 90 volunteers helped over the course of three months, as the two-story home was renovated and opened for

the business of helping cancer patients and their families. The National Register of Historic Places, the nation?s official list of

cultural resources worthy of preservation, in 2006 designated the twostory home as one of 29 properties so bestowed in Broward County. A

major renovation of the garden and grounds surrounding the sprawling home is scheduled to get underway this summer.

A non-residential community, Gilda?s Club provides a home-like setting for a wide series of support activities, including wellness,

workshops and lectures, potluck suppers, entertainment and music and even a men?s breakfast club ice-breaker.

Its family centered programs reflect a philosophy that when cancer happens, it affects the entire family. At Gilda?s Club, those learning to

live with cancer can count on support and it?s free. Among its many local fundraising programs, Gilda?s Club South

Florida annually hosts ?Live!?From South Florida?It?s Saturday Night!?, a comedy fundraiser in the past headlined by the likes of SNL?s

Not Ready for Prime Time cast members Jay Mohr, David Spade, and Kevin Nealon as well as comedians Lily Tomlin, David Brenner, Richard
