Campagnolo Restaurant & Lounge

Exquisitely Inventive Italian Cuisine

By Arnold Leir

For Chef James Campagnolo, it’s all about style, style of preparation and style of presentation. The harmonizing of diverse flavors and textures reflects a supreme mastery of the pristine ingredients he uses in each of his creations. His flair for dynamic displays is another masterful touch that whets the appetite even more.

Conveniently located on Boca Raton’s Glades Road (slightly west of the Florida Turnpike), this eponymous restaurant sets a benchmark for incomparable Italian fare prepared with precision and unswerving attention to detail. The elegant Mediterranean- Romanesque exterior features a stylish canopy, a multicolored tiled walkway and a set of elegant wooden doors decorated with etched glass panels.

To the right of the entrance, a contemporary bar room provides the setting for the daily Happy Hour. The wine list features a number of superior Italians with a nod to some fine vintages from rising wineries and iconic brands from around the world. There is also an extensive selection of outstanding wines offered by the glass.

On the other side of the restaurant, a spacious dining rooms echoes the gleaming white décor of the bar room. Both rooms are enlivened by natural light filtered through the glass facade. Service in either section is faultlessly provided by a staff that is always jovial and engaging.

The food is consistently bold and flavorful and, we may add, exciting and innovative. The Calamari Arrabiatta ($11.99) shows the style: crispy ringlets of fragile calamari bathed with a regal cherry pepper marinara sauce. You can revel in the sumptuous Hot Antipasto ($13.59) with fragrant clusters or baked clams, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and irresistible eggplant rollatini. None could resist the striking flavors of the Mozzarella and Tomato ($8.99) and the allure of the Stuffed Artichoke ($9.99)

It is impossible not to succumb to the charm of the Chef’s Rigatoni Sunday Sauce ($14.99) featuring a passionate ragu of meatball, sausage and pork paired with al dente pasta and a crowning dollop of ricotta.

The signature Campagnolo ($19.99) is an electrifying combination of chicken filet, sausage, peppers and onion sautéed with white wine and fresh garlic. The irresistible Red Snapper Florentine ($24.95) presents a bountiful filet over a bed of sautéed spinach garnished with fresh tomato and a wine tinged sauce.

The Chef’s homemade desserts ($6) are truly sensational. The Italian Cheesecake sparkles with hints of lemon, the Tiramisu exudes an incomparable satiny richness while the Cannoli is mind boggling delicious.

An all-inclusive Special Menu is available all day every day for only $15.29 per person. Campagnolo also provides a complete catering service. For more information log on to www.campagnolorestaurant.com.
