EV Chargers Across America

By Teresa Aquila

Owning an electric vehicle can be challenging when it comes to recharging. Things just became a little easier, now that there are over 250,000 public electric-vehicle charging ports across roughly 81,000 charging locations.

The total includes more than 178,000 Level 2 charging ports and over 73,000 DC fast-charging ports. But with all the EV’s on the road, is that enough?

For most owners, home charging remains the easiest and least expensive option because vehicles can recharge overnight. But not everyone has access to a garage or dedicated parking space; apartment residents and other drivers without access to home charging often rely on public chargers for everyday driving.

To achieve 250,000 plus charges, it has taken 19 years to reach that number. Many states still are not up to supplying large numbers of charges, while the West Coast and far Eastern United States offer the largest number of charging stations.

Driving across county in your EV takes planning and knowing the distance you will be traveling between charging stations. The question is, can you make it?

Happy Motoring.
