The First Electric Vehicle

By Teresa Aquila
Henry Ford worked as an engineer in one of Thomas Edison’s subsidiary companies, and during one brief encounter, Ford outlined the design he had for a gasoline engine that was self-contained. Thomas Edison responded by saying, “You have the thing. Keep at it.” Edison stayed to himself in fear of people asking for favors.

Ford continued with his conviction that he should continue, and in doing so, came up with the Model T, and then in 1927, Henry Ford produced the first production car, the Model A. Henry Ford being famous in his own right, and becoming close friends with Thomas Edison, awarded Edison with his first Model A. Ford also proposed that Edison partner with him to invent the first electric car. Edison was working on a battery design, but the battery proved, after testing, to be insufficient.
