Galini Greek Restaurant

Stylish, Refined with Peerless Cuisine

By Arnold Leir

Open only a month, Galini Greek Restaurant in Boca Raton is setting a standard for new venues. This jewel of a restaurant has been designed with a tribute to the glories of ancient and modern Greece. A portion of a dynamic mural depicts the remains of an ancient Greek temple. Another section portrays a contemporary Greek village overlooking the azure waters of the Aegean Sea. The colors echo the styles of the Greek flag.

The brilliant artwork creates a sleek and modern ambiance enhanced by spacious booths and comfortable banquettes. Ceiling panels over our table were decorated with brilliant abstract designs. To call the dining room elegant is an understatement The menu is packed with adventure and vibrancy thanks to the creativity of the consummate Chef Janis. Contemporary, yet in touch with the ageless Greek traditions, it is designed to resonate with the demands of a twenty first century clientele. With a huge range of choices intended for myriad tastes, the aim is judicious innovation with an eye for incomparable flavors. The superb platter of three scrumptious dips, Hummus, Tzatziki and Htipiti (made from feta cheese and roasted red peppers) is an amazing display of color and textures.

Chef Janis’ Grilled Octopus marinated in olive oil and grilled to perfection is a must have that is enhanced with a red wine sauce and tangy onions. Round out the opening act with an astounding Greek Salad overflowing with fresh veggies energized by aromatic feta and a vibrant dressing. With all these flavors and textures, make your meal more festive with a glass (or bottle) of imported Sauvignon Blanc from the redoubtable Zacharias Greek winery.

From the awesome array of Chef Janis’ entrees, we selected his signature Roast Lamb: Bone in Lamb Shoulder in Clay Pot, a masterpiece of culinary ingenuity. Fork tender lamb, immersed in a fabulous sauce, is presented in a clay pot large enough to feed two. From the sea, the Chef presents a Salmon filet, adroitly chargrilled with extra virgin olive oil and a lemon caper sauce. Entrees are served with soup or salad and two sides.

For the closing act, what better way to end this culinary odyssey than with a portion of delectable baklava? Enjoy lunch and dinner daily as well as breakfast only on Saturday and Sunday. Takeout, delivery and catering are available upon request. To learn more about Galini Greek Restaurant, log on to http:// galinigreekrestaurant.com
