Delray Grille

For Classic Gourmet Cuisine at It’s Finest

By Arnold Leir
There is always a place in Delray for a first class grill, especially when the current crop is over priced and nor quite up to par. At the recently opened Delray Grille, cooking is a disciplined art where the inventiveness and refinement of classically modern cuisine shines through. Drawing upon his experience in the Annapolis- Washington, D.C. area, proprietor Gary Stack has crafted a menu overflowing with inspired gourmet dishes. Impeccable service is provided by the accomplished staff who easily answers any question even if it means taking a moment to seek guidance from the kitchen.

The dining room is divided into two spacious sections. The main portion features a new counter which will soon become a fully provisioned bar. (At this time, however, you can enjoy a delightful array of premium wines and beer to complement your selection).

Sparkling porcelain cups, gleaming silverware and precisely folder napery decorate dozen of tables supplied with condiments. Recessed lighting and tall luminous panels emit a soft light that creates an inviting ambiance. The overall charm is enhanced by imaginative wall panels on display throughout the restaurant.

The kitchen’s creatve flair manifests itself immediately in the unique treatment of the starters. The Jumbo Wings presents a cluster of tender segments adroitly prepared to preserve all the natural goodness. The ensemble is energized by one of several sauces (the garlic –Parmesan is heavenly) and a magical blue cheese dip. The Nova Platter delivers slices of satiny salmon partnered with cuts of vibrant tomato, lettuce, onions and lively capers. A bagel of your choice rounds out this winner.

The entrees, to say the least, were superb. The Grilled Snapper is a compelling creation featuring an exceptionally succulent filet expertly grilled and served with sides delectable broccoli and sweet potato, A magnicent Lamb Shank is bathed by a fragrant red sauce that allows the delicate essence of the lamb to shine through. A generous portion of white rice and steamed broccoli were the perfect sides.

Presented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a heap of whipped cream, the mouthwatering Apple Strudel was the perfect finale. Scrumptious breakfast and lunch selections are available every day. From 3 to 4:30 pm, enjoy two Early Birds for $28 while from 4:30 to 8 pm, the Grille offers two dinners for $32.

Delray Grille is located at the rear of the Atlantic Plaza located on the east side of Jog Road south of the intersection of Jog and West Atlantic near Applebee’s. Oval signs with the name of the restaurant are posted on the windows facing the parking area.
