HAPPY MOTORING

Ford Motor Company and McDonald’s fast food chain are teaming up to utilize coffee bean shells to manufacture car parts. This is not the first time that waste has become a usable product. Millions of pounds of coffee bean skin is thrown away each year, ending up in our landfills. It has been determined by taking the skin or the chaff of the coffee bean, heating it up to a high temperature under low oxygen, then mixing it with plastic and other additives turning it into a pellet form, it can then be made into various shapes.

This is a first for Ford, turning coffee bean skins into car parts. So the next time you drink a cup of joe at your favorite McDonald’s, know the excess could be a part of your own car. Happy Motoring.
