How Will California’s AB1346 Affect the Rest of the Country?

By Teresa Aquila
It has been a long and strong push by California’s CARB (California’s Air Resource Board) to eliminate small gas-powered equipment. Cleaning up the state’s air quality has been a mission for years, leading them to enact the extinction of these units.

CARB states that using gaspowered small equipment without any emission control devices, one hour of use with a leaf blower is like driving 1100 miles from Denver to L.A. It might not be so easy for landscaping businesses to transition to alternative equipment. What will it cost?

California is already experiencing power blackouts, and with the increase in electric vehicles and small equipment, how will this tax their power grid? With this new state law, will other states follow? Time will tell.
