It’s Spring Cleaning Time

By David Hall
Hello dear reader. Now’s the time to consider SPRING CLEANING, and with cleaning comes CLEARING as in CLEARING the surfaces of your home.

From kitchen countertops, to your nightstand, to your home office desk, one helpful hack is to clear the top surface of everything, and then clean with a cloth and some spray of your choice. When you do this, you get a fresh, new canvas to create from.

Once you’ve cleared the surface, you can then be DELIBERATE in placing items you use all the time on the surface. By being JUDICIOUS, you decide what’s important and attractive to stay out, and what’s needing to be put away somewhere out of sight.

Sounds simple (and it is) as long as you do it, not just dream about it!

Next in spring cleaning, once surfaces are cleaned and cleared, the more challenging part begins – taking out what’s in the nightstand drawers, the bathroom drawers, kitchen pantry and desk drawers. I suspect you have your priority spaces to look after and help clear, so start with one location at a time. Once again, clear everything out of the drawer/shelf/cabinet.

Clean the drawer with cleaner and let’s get fresh!! Place the items you use all the time in a familiar and easy to access location. You’ll soon see that you have multiples of things. No worries, just don’t buy more… (tape, paperclips, towels, calculators, pens, etc.). Part of decluttering is taking inventory of what you have, and as regular readers know, we all have TMS* (too much stuff)! So discard and donate unwanted or unneeded things. You’ll feel better and your gift to others is a blessing. The more you purge and donate or discard, the lighter you’ll feel. Honest. Promise. So get going.

Finally, consider one drawer, one room at a time. It can be daunting to think of the whole house as one project. It’s much easier and less stressful picking a room, working on it, clearing it, organizing it, and appreciating your hard efforts paying off. Then, and only then, should you begin the next room, drawer, or cabinet. Often, we move from project to project, a distraction, and get nothing done. My helpful hint is letting you know to stay with the project close at hand. Finish one area before taking on the next.

If you have questions, feel free to call. My first consulting fee is FREE. We can talk via FaceTime, Zoom, or just call and let’s discuss your projects, your trouble spots, and actually get something accomplished that frees up your mind, allowing you to focus on way better things than cleaning lint out of the laundry dryer trap, for example!!

Spring is all about growth. Growing from dormancy to activity, from dull to brilliant. I invite you to SPRING into ACTION and get your home organized, decluttered and looking (and feeling) wonderful this time of year.

As always, here to help. At APlusClutterClearing.com we Clear the Clutter… to Clear the Mind™
