Even though gasoline vehicles cost around half as much to purchase as electric vehicles, monthly costs are lower for EVs. Combustion engine vehicles consume fuel, while electric vehicles consume electricity. When you compare maintenance between the two, a gasoline automobile will cost more, but they can go further on a tank of gas than an EV on a full charge.
There are currently 1.7 million electric vehicles in the U.S. compared to 300 million combustion engine vehicles. So it’s unrealistic to expect that by 2035, the entire U.S. vehicle fleet will be fossil fuel-free, considering the number of vehicles on our roadways today. Not to mention the electrical infrastructure that would be needed to support 300-plus million electric vehicles. Happy Motoring.
